Christmas Bakin'

Nutmeg Cookies

Things have been, to say the least, still hectic. But good.

We had small group here this past Sunday, and it was good to have everyone over. Cam, Jocelyn & Jill came over for a pancake dinner (tres yummy). I went with the youth group last weekend to WEM for a waterpark night, then stayed up way too late playing silly games. Can you say four in a couch?

I've also been having friends over every Monday night to watch a disc of Gilmore Girls Season 7. It's a good time spent together - last week we got started late because we just didn't want to stop chatting! I must admit that the first 3 or so seasons were more favorite, but it's nice to finish the whole thing off. We've only got 2 more nights left.

Tomorrow night I head into the big city - Bryce and Hayley were kind enough to ask me to photograph their wedding! It'll be fun to take photos at a snowy wedding, and I'm sure it'll be a lovely time.

In a week and a bit we fly out to Vernon for a week to visit the family over Christmas - the tickets are purchased, but things have been so crazy that I haven't really had time to think about it too much yet. But family for Christmas is always good.

Only 6 work days left until holidays! Whee!

Let's play catch-up!

the drive at night
Originally uploaded by trippykel
I've been home from my trip for a week and a half, and am already settling right back in to the home routine. The girls were over Monday night to watch the first disc of Gilmore Girls season 7 - not as good as the original seasons, but I've got to finish them all off now. Jeremie is in the city for work this week, so I have the house to myself. I always forget how much more time one has when they live alone. Last night was movie night - I watched Chuck & Larry (typical Adam Sandler, not bad but not worth reccommending) and Little Manhattan (pretty good, but still a rental movie).

My trip. I'm left with a collage of shifting memories, almost all of them good - it was an amazing trip. Thus the first installment:

I left on October 31st, driving the 4 hours to Edmonton. The roads were good, and it was a pretty uneventful drive aside from my excitement to finally be on the road. I met up with Heather that evening, and crashed at her place that evening. I was shocked to find that they didn't give out halloween candy, so Heather and I took a little side-trip to the store to pick some up. We put on the Live at the Fillmore DVD & gave out candy to the cute kids. And some not-so-cute older kids. I'm not sure what I think about 14-year olds trick-or-treating. I know that when I was that age I had friends who still went, and wanted to go myself, but it seems like more of a younger-kid thing. Although if you're taking a younger sibling, I think it should still count.

We didn't sleep much that night, between Heather getting up every half hour to check on things, her dog's nails clicking on the floor outside my bedroom door, and the fact that I was too excited to sleep half the time as well. We were up around 4:30, and left at 5 to pick up Kim and drive to Calgary. We played a lot of unreleased Hanson tracks on that drive, and had a great time sharing songs with each other that we hadn't heard.

We stopped at Mal's dorm, dropped off my car in her parking lot, and grabbed a cab to the airport. We were through security pretty quickly, and spend an hour or so drinking Starbucks, taking photos, and trying out the video mode on our cameras. The flight to Anaheim was fine - we made a layover in Salt Lake City, and it was neat to see the salt flats & the mountains down there. The mountains around Salt Lake look a whole lot different than the Rockies up here.

We arrived in Anaheim with all our luggage, found our rental car, and spent an hour or so fiddling with Gloria (our GPS) to figure out how to get where we needed to be. We wound up at our hotel with only one wrong turn, and that only a block out of our way - not bad at all! Our hotel was about 5 blocks from Disneyland, which was perfect - we could walk to the first show, taking place in the House of Blues in Downtown Disney. We walked to Denny's for dinner, after which Heather crashed in front of the TV . Kim, Mal and I headed down to the hot tub to soak. I might have snuck into the cold pool to swim a few laps as well, which I loved. Swimming = love.

Show day number 1 - we were up at 8, showered & packed the car by 9, and headed down for our free breakfast of muffins & coffee. We then walked to Disney (while taking a lot of photos - can you say camera happy?) and stopped by the House of Blues. To our surprise and delight, there was a Hanson line already for the show that night, and a girl in line giving numbers to show who got there when. We were pleased to get sharpie numbers on our hands so we could sneak off to Disneyland for the morning and not lose our place in line - good idea, whoever thought of that! We were numbers 18-21. Not bad at all!

- to be continued -

Where's Malldo

Where's Malldo
Originally uploaded by trippykel
Time has been skittering away from me lately on insect feet. I spent most of this past week in Edmonton, working during the day and meeting up with friends at night.

Korp was over last weekend (we had a blast), so she and I drove back to the city together. We ended up counting things to stay awake: 232 semi-trucks, 144 horses, 35 road-curve signs, 4 incidences of roadkill (yum yum), 3 cop cars, and oh so much more.

Sarah was kind enough to let me crash at her place at night, and I had the enviable position of sleeping on the hide-a-bed. It wasn't exactly comfort in a bag (too many springs), but I was supremely greatful for a place to rest my head. Hooray for Sarah!

Monday was great fun, a bunch of McKernanites met me for dinner at Red Robin's. Andy-roo, Ben, Beth, Julianna, Amy, Mrs Bienert, Korp all crowded around the table and we played catch-up. It was great to see them again: I only wish I'd had more one-on-one time!

I also took a trip to the always-splendid Ikea, to find that my kitchen timer and desk file holder were no longer being produced. I did, however, find some lovely fold-up table-chairs to use for when we have company, so that we don't have to roll our office chairs out to the kitchen table.

I took a morning off to get my passport, arrived to the passport office at 8am, thinking there wouldn't be too big a lineup, since it opens at 8am. There were already 50 people in front of me. I spoke with an agent only to find that I needed my birth certificate, and had forgotten it at home (a 4+ hour drive away). Oops. I had to find a registry office, order & wait for a noon-time-ready print, and then rush back to the office. So much for getting back to work early!

The drive home was long. I stopped a third of the way home at a rest stop to get some shut-eye. I'm always a bit afraid of waking up to someone trying to break into my car, or banging on the windows or something. I slept in the back seat (seems safer, somehow) and was awakened to a thump on my windshield. I opened bleary eyes to see a silver fox trying to climb up my windshield. You know you live in the boonies when...

The rest of the week was playing catch-up at work before my trip, since I'm now down to 2 remaining work days. Thank goodness. I really need a break, so the trip should be lovely for that!

J and I on my birthday
Originally uploaded by trippykel

The attached photo was taken shortly after my first birthday party - the murder mystery luau. I was unfortunate enough to have forgot my camera (sounds so unlike me!) and so am still waiting for the more luau-ey photos. It turned out that Mr Phineas T Wingate (brewer and cat fiend extraordinare) was murdered - and we were all suspects. We met over a massive fondue to find out who murdered him, and why. I was Nellie Couche, a young (not so) innocent. Dear J was the butler (and for once, the butler wasn't the murderer!). It was a smashing time, full of deep-fried foods and laughter. Thaks Britt, for hosting and planning!

A day before the luau (which you can only invite 8 guests to), Lindy from J's work called to see what we were doing for my birthday! She organized the Tucker gang, and we all met on Saturday for Earls dinner (I got to wear a boa, thanks Lindy) and a viewing of Mr Bean's Holiday.

Jeremie is still working on my present, so he's been getting pieces in the mail every so often and keeps apologizing that it's late. But hey - while I wait, he managed to come up with a CD, some flowers, and a new memory card for my digicam. And that just in time for my trip!

Thanks to all who sent lovely birthday wishes and cards (Erika and Mom, I just got your cards today). It's been one great week!

Thanksgiving!

This photo is from tonight's youth event, Bigger and Better. Where we go to your door, and ask you if you'll trade us for something bigger or better than what we've got. And keep going until time's up! I thought we would for sure win when we went toothpick > ceiling fan > barbecue > deck chairs > twin bed frames. But no - we were foiled by the group who traded their couch for a car! It's pure and utter craziness, that's what it is.

Mom, Dad, Erika and Chuck are driving up tonight and staying until Monday. It will be so good to see everyone again! I haven't seen Mom and Dad in at least 4-5 months, and it'll be their first time seeing our new home.

We're also planning a huge turkey dinner with the works: gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, candied yams, pickled carrots, homemade cranberry sauce, salad, and pie! It's a group effort, with everyone bringing something. And oh, am I looking forward to that gravy!

I received a package couriered to us in J's name. I opened it, paused while reading the manifest, and stopped. My birthday is next week, and I suspect that it might be something for me! I love surprises too much to ruin it.

Speaking of my birthday... next week I turn 27. It's funny how fast the time flies! Britt and I have been scheming together to come up with something good, at least since the spa party we were at two nights ago. We're throwing a luau-murder mystery-fondue party at her place, and it's going to be great!

And there's only 26 days until I start the trek to California with some buddies for 5 Hanson concerts!

And I might even have stood over the heat register in my pajamas the other morning. I love the way they billow out, and it's so nice and warm... some joys of childhood just don't age.

We'll be gone for a week and a half, and catch shows in Anaheim, San Diego, San Fransisco, LA, and Vegas before heading home - and hopefully do a little site-seeing (maybe beach combing?) while we're down there.

The Walk tour is also trying to raise some money to help out some Africans: if you buy a pair of Toms shoes, a pair gets sent to a kid in Africa: all proceeds from the sale of the single Great Divide go to work with a Soweto hospital dealing in mother-child aids transmission, and the boys are also doing short walks (barefoot) before each concert to help raise awareness. I'm guessing it's awareness that some people don't have shoes, which leads to... we have a lot of stuff, please share it. At least that's my take on the walks.

So it should be a good time: I'm already planning on a new battery for my camera :)

Hooray for Hanson concerts!

Road trip!

the Graffiti rock
Originally uploaded by trippykel
J and I took a little road trip last Sunday to visit Tumbler Ridge - there was a competition at the skatepark. So we loaded up the car with skateboards, skate kids, helmets, and snacks, and headed out.

On the way there we passed what we call 'graffiti mountain'. This rock face is crumbling, and full of people's bombs & tags. Not many are well done, but it's still fun.

We also got to visit Steve & Taeya and hang out for a bit, since they were in the area as well!

It was raining as we drove to TR, but the sky cleared up just in time for the competition. None of our boys placed, but they had a good time & enjoyed the chance to test out a new park. Hooray!

Last night we had Jer & Britt over for a big ol' pasta dinner. There was an open house next door, and we went to check it out after eating - anybody want a fully renoed home? It's going for something like $275,000 and is pretty nicely redone . But you'd have to want to be our neighbor too ;)

We also watched Blades of Glory (Will Ferrell, the Napoleon Dynamite guy take on figure skating). It had some funny parts, but I wouldn't exactly reccommend it to anyone - too much *blech* stuff in it. Boo.

Oh, and... Hanson is touring again! Yay! The downside is that the closest stop to us would be either LA or Tulsa (each roughly 1 day & 8 hour drive by Google). Aah, maybe next tour...

Camping and such

Contemplating...

The weather was perfect for the first day - a balmy afternoon, and a warm but comfortable evening, perfect for tenting. The second day was rainy, so we hid out in the shelter and played games, then split up: the museum for those interested - and the movies for us and some of the cousins. Hooray, Harry Potter! We wandered around downtown saskatoon and found a fabulous little bistro with a green floor. I have no idea what it was called, but the food was great - you should definitely check it out!

Maria tagged along with us back home in the car, no easy feat in a civic with three people plus camping gear. She's staying here the week, and we've been having a fabulous time: watching movies, playing games, doing a spot of cooking (we invented a marvelous pasta sauce to eat with our spaghetti squash), and reading. Hooray for sisters!

And this weekend Erika and Chuck will be here - good times!

In other news, other news... the VZ family reunion is in two weeks (my mom's side of the family) in Saskatoon and we're going to that. I'm really looking forward to a week off - hooray summer vacation! Perhaps we should start planning the trip. You know, how long we stay where, who we visit, how much junk food we eat...

All is normal, nothing too too exciting. Ciao!

Much ado about nothing

We're definitely settling in.

We've had a lot of fun house projects: painting the deck, getting a barbecute and freezer, installing solar garden lights to luminate the sidewalk to the back (side, as Jeremie insists) door, installing a chandelier, moving a mirror, and just generally making the place our own. It's good. I have big fun dreams for my office decorating!

As far as a church goes, I like the one about 2 blocks from our house so far - they're friendly and I like having a church in our community. So we'll see how that pans out - they're still looking for a new pastor, so we'll have to see what he (or she?) is like.

My work is going alright - some days are more fun than others, but isn't that always the way of it? The upsides to working at home: eating from the fridge, reading or watching tv, playing computer games on lunch break. No commute! The downsides: I don't see people all day, and tend to be a bit more chatty when Jeremie comes home. Poor man. Plus everything is just a bit more work.

We're hosting a thing for the people from jeremie's work: ladies get a Mary Kay makeover and photoshoot while the men do manly things in the yard like barbecue and sports of some sort. Here's to hoping it works out well!

Fatigue is setting in, so perhaps I'll blog more another day. And runescape calls.

Reccommended listening

Hanson came out with a new album. And it's good. Now I am a bit biased, seeing that I've always liked their music, but even so it's good. It's got some mellow, got some bouncey-fun tunes, some serious ones. definitely a reccommended listen :)

Dog for a day

The Lost Puppy
Originally uploaded by trippykel
I was going to drive up to Sexsmith on Friday, and make a liesurely day of it: stop for lunch, do a bit of siteseeing. But by the time Thursday evening had arrived and my Ikea visit with the Bienerts was done, I was too impatient.

Knowing that I wouldn't be able to sleep (for excitement, not dread) due to moving on Friday and getting to see J again, I decided to just start driving Thursday night and see where I ended up.

Amy and Mom helped me pack the car, I hugged them and Julianna goodbye, and started off on my journey - a 5+-hour drive at 10pm.

The drive was a bit scary - dark, hard to see the road, and I kept seeing all these caution signs with jumping deer and moose on them. They made me tense and watchful, due to which I managed to stay awake until I arrived at 4am (minus a 20 minute nap on the side of the road).

I think Jeremie thought I was an intruder, sneaking into the house at 4am. Oops.

I was planting the front flowerbed on Sunday afternoon when this cute puppy jogged across our lawn, tags jingling and leashless. I called him to me, petted him while I caught his collar, and used some new shoelaces to leash him to our deck. He was a very friendly and incredibly good dog - no barking, no shoe-biting, not too much whining. I whipped him up a dinner of spaghetti noodles and apple chunks (After checking online to see what dogs could eat), and bedded him down in the basement on a soft blanket. The town office called the dog owner, who was very excited and rushed to our place from work to pick him up Monday morning. But he was a great, cute puppy. Too much work for us to have one permanently, but it was nice to have a dog for a day.

Pies.

Alby and I went out for a random dinner this evening - we went downtown until we walked by a dinner shop that was open and appealing (the Old Spaghetti Factory) and had a lovely meal. This was followed by ice cream and a movie - the Waitress.

I'm not sure what I thought of the movie. It was well written and acted, but I went in expecting to see a fairly typical chick flick. The movie had several affairs revolving throughout the plot, which was hard to like (they wreck a lot of lives). But at the same time the movie was about finding out what life is about and sharing in life. Mixed reviews. One thing I did like, however, was all the lovely creative pies that were made throughout the movie. All with crazy names like Chocolate Rumble in my Tummy Pie and each one looked tasty and creamy and amazing as it was made.

And I was with Alby the chocolate connoiseur.

Needless to say, we went to Save On Foods afterwards to find ingredients for our own pie creation - whipping cream, shells, strawberries, and cherries. At Alby's we made the whipping cream into a mousse with some Belgian chocolate Alby had laying around (very true, very Alby) and chatted while we sliced and pitted and folded and whipped. The pies looked fantastic going into the oven.

And then I went home to bed. Alby is bringing me a pie tomorrow. Can't wait!

All about the move - and then some!

The u-hauling event of the year went famously - we had about 15 people to help! It was crazy, but good - we got all the stuff put in the truck with no one having to work like a dog to get it done. Jeremie and my Dad managed a herculean feat - getting all our stuff to fit into a 17 foot U-haul. I had originally expected a 24 foot one (but the day before U-haul said they didn't have any and I'd need to get a 17 footer), and no one could quite believe that everything fit. There was a glitch though: U-haul was out of furniture pads, though I'd booked a bunch, so we had to run around to thrift stores and borrow blankets from friends to pack everything with. But we ordered pizza and snacked on the lawn, Matt P kept getting the kite stuck in funny places, and we all had a chance to hang out as well as packing the truck.

We then had a chance to drive the 5ish hours to Grande Prairie, which was fun. I managed to drive for the first two hours before I got sleepy and Jeremie took over. One long drive later we stopped in Grande Prairie to pick up Jeremie's car, and drove both cars the 13 kilometers north of Grande Prairie to our new hometown - Sexsmith. Just as we were pulling up Colleen called Jeremie's cell to see if we could come to her church in the morning. It was great to hear from her, and it was nice to know we already had someone in the area who wanted to see us. We pulled a few things out of the U-haul, set up the air mattress, and crashed - by this time it was 11pm and we were both exhausted.

I got a chance to try out our new shower the next morning (ugly door panels, nice water pressure) before heading off to the 11:30am service. We met up with Colleen and her family there - 2 kids that we saw (I think she has 3?) and her husband. It's weird to see her as a mommy, but she somehow manages to do so while still being the same person I know & love.

The service was a mite Pentecostal for my tates - a lot more about the laying on of hands and such than I'm comfortable with. The sermon topic, though I'm not sure how accurate it was, was interesting. The topic was 'the soul of a woman is a deep, deep place' for Monthers' day, and he based this premise off of Mary's strength and faith when confronted by the angel Gabriel, while praising God at Elizabeth's place, and her trust when she and Joseph escaped to Egypt. He gave it the slant that she was standing up to the Angel when she asked him questions about Jesus' birth, and equated her as giving him some attitude. Interesting to think about, makes her seem a bit more like a person, but I didn't see this anywhere in scripture.

But back to the moving saga. Jeremie had arranged his (the Sexsmith) end of things in regards to moving help, and 2 guys from his work and 2 girls came over to help move in. The girls unpacked while the guys hauled boxes and furniture, and by the end of the afternoon we had most of the kitchen, living room, and bedroom set up. All the stuff that was crammed into our 2-bedroom apartment comes close to filling up a 4-bedroom house. Interesting, no?

Monday we went shopping for some yard tools to go in our lovely shed (big enough to stand in, has lots of shelves too!) and planted some corn and carrots in our garden. I read about squarefoot gardening a bit and might like to try that next year - you basically make squares of 3-4 feet surrounded by walking stones and plant little sections of your things, instead of rows (which apparently were created when gardening in order for the big machines of today's harvesting industry to have an easier time of it). We cleaned up after that and I flew back to Edmonton. Ben picked me up in his car and dropped me off at home.

With a lot of paint and some new hardware (probably over several years) our house will be all Boulianne-ized. I've got big ideas - it'l be fun to see which ones work out in the end!

Updates on the moving process and such

I've had a great week of it. Friday night I packed. Saturday and Sunday I packed with Jeremie. Monday I worked, then packed with Julianna. Tuesday was work and packing with Sheleena, Wednesday was work and packing with Mandy and Michael. I will be very glad when this is over!

On the upside, I got off of work early yesterday to pick Mom up from the airport. We had a grand old chat, walked Whyte, and had some great (as usual) dinner at Chianti. We then spent the rest of the night swapping photos since Mom has her work laptop with her. She downloaded some of mine to her laptop, and showed me pictures of England on her lovely Picasa. By the way, after using/seeing Picasa, I highly reccommend the product to anyone who knows how to use a computer but isn't a pro and wants an easy tool to organize, crop/color fix and view photos. It's great.

Mom and I had some good girl chat before falling asleep in our sleep over. This morning we booked a hotel for her and Dad, then promptly cancelled the booking - they can stay here the night, since Jeremie's not here we have a bit of room.

I really hope the U-haul rep calls me today! I booked online about a month ago, and they're supposed to call you by 5pm the day before your booking to arrange things. It makes me nervous!

On the upside, Jeremie has the day off and we get posession of our house at noon. So he'll be lazing around Grande Prairie, snapping pictures of the house and moving his baggage there from the hotel. He flies back to Edmonton on Saturday morning to help pack the U-haul, and then will drive it back up to Grande Prairie with me.

Sounds like fun, no?

The dentist and whatnot

The big news of the day: I got three cavities filled. My mouth is still a bit sore, and it hurts to laugh. Which I nevertheless do as I cannot help it.

Work went well today, the day didn't feel long at all. Which was awesome!

I'm looking forward to tonight - I'm hanging out with Andrew & Sarah for awhile. Sarah has been kind enough to be my legal something-or-other that I need in order to sign a bunch of papers for our lawyer about our new house. So that'll be done tonight too, hooray!

If only I knew where Maria was living so I could give her a call...

Busyness and the hectic life

Mom and Dad are visiting Maria in the UK. Hi, mom! Hi, Dad! Hope you're having a blast!

In other news...

Jeremie was back for last week, which was nice. It was good to see him again. That being said, it was an extremely busy week, what with the Anberlin/Jonezetta concert, visiting friends, packing, going to Calgary for the weekend, and more. He's heading back today and might visit this weekend, but officially he's now a Nothern Albertan. I will be in just under 3 weeks.. moving May 12th. Anyone want to come help us stuff the U-haul?

My Cafepress swag has arrived!

I'm quite excited that my cafepress swag just arrived in the mail. I got some really fun items:

2) Babette Ate Oatmeal. Always a Gilmore Girls classic.
3) Mini-buttons to put on my spiffy new camera bag
4) Belated Christmas cards. I couldn't find any, so I made them! I'll probably get around to writing/sending them this summer, which should be interesting...

In other news, J gets home tonight and I'm stoked! He hasn't been home for a month and I miss him.. hanging out, 'discussing' things, cuddling, and so much more... :)

Moving and the like

First of all: I've had several lovely days since last weekend that I was excited to blog about, but this is honestly the first time in over a week that Blogger has let me sign in. The signin from the homepage doesn't even show up half the time when I click on the link, and when I try to go to a login page Blogger times out. I'm quite sad about that.

In other news...

It's official. We're moving to Grande Prairie.

The signs: - I've started asking for extra boxes when I go shopping - A clandestine visit to a mortgage broker - I now know how to spell mortgage properly - I went grocery shopping in an effort to find food to mix n match what we have (to clear out our freezer) - J is home viewing to find a good place - All our local friends are unimpressed - Our living room is becoming a cardboard haven

We're moving sometime in May, though we haven't really figured out when: it depends on when we get posession of our house. Jeremie is hanging out (slash working) up north and looking for a house (our first, so exciting!) while I kick around home thinking about closing accounts, changing addresses, and packing.

We're both looking forward to the move. J gets a better work environment (same company, different location) and a nice raise, while I get to decorate our first home and have an office at the house. I'll be keeping my job, and will be working from home on a trial basis while my employer and I see how it goes.

The downside is, most obviously, our friends and family that we'll be leaving (or moving further from). We're going to miss everyone we've gotten to know, but don't worry: we'll have a guest room open for anyone who's in town!

Updates on my life

A friend asked me the other night what the difference between a large pizza and a musician is. Apparently a large pizza can feed a family of four - who knew?

Things are going well here, but a bit crazy. J is up north for a couplea weeks for work, and I'm flying up to visit for Easter weekend. I'm looking forward to it, I really miss him! Plus it's his birthday, so we'll have a lot of fun.

We're thinking of moving. J could get a transfer, we could move up north, I could probably keep my job and work from home over the lovely internet. We're considering it, and I'm waiting (not so) patiently while his work decides to get back to us on salary and such. If it's good, we'll go. We made an offer two weeks ago and haven't heard back, so I'm thinking the negotiations will take a long time. I just want to know if we're going or not, so we can plan for it! It's exciting to consider, too. I like change every so often, and now is the perfect time for something new. We might even buy our first home!

I also got my eyes checked on Saturday. Apparently my prescription has changed very little: so I keep the same frames (which I thankfully still enjoy) but get to load up on contacts.

When I get back from my trip, I've got a dentist appointment and 30 flower table arrangements to make that night. I'm having Jill, Beth, and Amy over: should be a grand ol' time. We'll make dinner and make things and chat our heads off. Whee!

And Anberlin is coming up! 2 more weeks!

Jenna is flying down for the weekend of the 13th-14th, so we're really looking forward to hanging out with her again: she's fun to have around.

The weekend after that is a work party in Calgary.. can you say busy? But at least we're hoppin' around here...

Soundtrack of Your Life

I found this on the C&C message board. And it's amusing, so I thought my blog might like a piece of the action.

So, here's how it works: 1. Open your music library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc) 2. Put it on shuffle 3. Press play 4. For every question, type the song that's playing 5. When you go to a new question, press the next button 6. Don't lie (don't worry, you will want to many times...) and try to pretend you're cool...

Opening Credits: Big Me - Foo Fighters
It's all about me. Yesss.

Waking Up: With you in your dreams - Hanson
Okay, so it kind of fits. Strange.

First Day At School: My Own Sweet Time - Hanson
It's true, I was late.

Falling In Love: Into the Dark - Julianna Theory
Does this mean falling in love was bad?

Fight Song: Mayday - Subseven
Help me! We're fighting!

Breaking Up: I'm Content With Losing - Underoath
Okay, so I'm not really content to lose. I want to Win, darn it all!

Prom: We're Nothing Without You - Julianna Theory
You know the classic prom speech? We are the future of tomorrow? Maybe the old people are nothing without the youth to take over when they're done.. or something

Life: Long Ago and Far Away - Chet Baker
Apparently I'm that old!

Mental Breakdown: Young and Aspiring - Underoath
This is extremely contradictory. Aspring and breakdown = opposite?

Driving: 4th Street - Spoken
I really love 4th street. It's my favorite street ever.

Flashback: Don't Run AWay - Jump5
I have no idea at all how this ties in

Getting back together: We're So Far Away - MAE
I thought that when you got back together you were closer? Hmm.

Wedding: Benediction - Relient K
Good that our wedding has God's blessing!

Birth of Child: Good Lovin' - Hanson
You know how we got that good child? ;)

Final Battle: If I told you this was killing me, would you stop? - Julianna Theory
Funny! And very apt. But obviously they didn't stop.. as the next one is my death scene

Death Scene: Moon River - Frank Sinatra
Maybe I've crossed the river of life?

Funeral Song: Someone - Hanson
Vague.

End Credits: Prologue - MAE
The end of this life, the start of another. Both epilogue and prologue!

Excitement

I haven't talked to Maria in ages, since she's been in Europe and the whole time change thing is a schmoz. But, joy of joys! I get to call her in 1 hour and 45 minutes. Can't wait!

This and that

A few anecdotes from a few months of my life:

1) We went sledding. This doesn't sound so complicated, but it did turn out to be a rather large undertaking. We got together a bunch (okay, six) people and headed out to the local sledding hill. There J and I met up with the rest of the gang, to find that Matt had brought his special-o GPS reader-ey thing. It can track the speed of something, so we used it for our all slipping and sliding. Turned out we went between 41 - 53 km/h down that crazy ice-hill. And I'm sure J and I would have beat that if we could have both fit on the plastic disc sled!

2) My little sister is in Europe. Now this isn't something I'm doing, but it does affect my life! I'm used to calling her every couple of weeks, and now it's been months since I've talked to her. I'm going through withdrawl. I really hope we can get this whole phoning/time difference thing worked out. We have so much to catch up on!

3) I just got a digital SLR. Canon Rebel XT (older model, since it was waaay cheaper). I'm in love. And got a lovely flickr account! Hoo-rah! For some reason, perhaps due in part to the fact that I have no flickr contacts, there are no testimonials or random silly comments on my flickr account. Want to add one? I'll hug you forever! (As long as the comments do not involve derogatory comments towards Zeke or Siggy, at which point we'd have to sit down for a serious discussion over the ramifications of said action. Or find time for a wet-fish-flogging.)

4) Have I ever told you about the time I....

La catarata (sp?)

My first post, ah me. I'll be adding more sooner or later, since I'm switching from the evil of MSN spaces. Yess. Won't my sisters be thrilled!
