The new digs

Things have been crazy busy, what with packing, moving, my birthday, my mom's birthday, updating my portfolio, looking for a job, unpacking in our rental place, trying to sell our house, finishing up some design work, and learning a new city.

We've had no luck on the house-sale front so far, so we're going to lower the price again and see if we can entice someone to buy it. That would be really nice. We've had one viewing in the past month it's been on the market. It's a bit discouraging to not have anyone want our house, since I liked it so much.

I was Ikea shopping for a few pieces to make our basement suite liveable when I ran into a friend I hadn't seen in several years. I now have one friend to hang out with in Calgary, which is much better than none. Huzzah for friends!

Jer's new job is going well. The first week was quite difficult, but it's apparently getting better as he gets used to job expectations and figures out how everything works there. I'm glad it's going well, and hope it continues to get better.

That's all for now. I'm going to have a snack and get all cozy with a book in bed. Mmm. Bed.

Geese take over the pond

Geese take over the pond

I was driving home today and saw a flock of geese converging on this pond. Apparently they're resting before the rest of their southern pre-snow flight. I'm sad they're leaving, because it means the cold is coming soon. But it was fun to run home to get my camera and have a quick photo session. You win some, you lose some.

I also went to Jos' baby shower tonight. It was really quite lovely, in a laid-back-visiting sort of way. There was this fabulous light cheesecake, an espresso machine, and a lot of visiting. I just wish I'd remembered to take my camera for a few photos!

crazy but true

Cade and I were hanging out at the park today. And a moose walked through the playground. Seriously. This massive brown animal with antlers. Or horns. Or whatever they're called on a moose. It was crazy.
