And life rolls on

A lot has been going on since March. We just bought a house, and take possession in a week. J's mom is coming down for the weekend to help me paint, and I'm really excited for that. Hooray for fresh colors! And for space! I'm really excited about our new home. It has everything we wanted - a bigger dining room for entertaining, a dish washer, a garage, and a nice yard. It's close to the Deerfoot (good for getting to work), and feels great when you walk in. I'm really looking forward to moving our stuff in and getting settled. Plus, I get my own office/hobby room again. It'll be great to have somewhere to store/use all my sewing, painting, reading, computer stuff without being in the curious hands of a 2 year old.

Cade is now 2. He's grown up so much, and is coming home with new words every day. He surprises me sometimes, like when he asked for batteries for his toy or how he knew the word 'pasta' (since I always call them noodles when talking to him). We were in the car the other day and I asked what kind of music he wanted. He said 'Hanson'. That's my boy! We've taken him on a lot of outings in the last few months: the zoo, garage sales, the Calgary tower, a sleepover at a friend's house, swimming and the library. I really like taking him out - it's cool to see what he's interested in. He's big into skateboards, balls of any sort, lego, and ice cream.

My job is going really well, and I'm still enjoying it a lot. I've learned a ton, and am getting some mad web conversion skills. I'm glad to add to my skillset and know I'm producing more useful sites for people. Plus, the sites we've done lately look awesome. Seriously.

Oh, and I read this great book the other day - the Oracle of Stamboul, by Michael David Lukas. It's a novel about a young girl, super smart, who gets thrown into the centre of politics in the declining Ottoman empire. What I like best about it is that it's told in such a real, feeling way instead of being dry history. Plus there are no awkward sex/romantic scenes, which is nice for a change. Refreshing. I definitely recommend this one!

Jer went to Maker Faire with work this year, and had a blast. He's heading out for another one shortly. It's pretty sweet that you can have a job where you get to go to a fun conference instead of a dry one!

Okay, I'm out to watch a movie with my man. Ciao!
