A lack of employment

The week and a bit I've had off from work so far has been fairly fabulous. I've gotten lots of things done at home, had time for friends and errands, and even helped Amy buy some new living room storage furniture and get some ideas for organizing! Friday night was the Fast Food Formal (see photo to the right) with youth, where we dressed up fancy and ate at McDonald's. Saturday J and I attended the Love and Respect video conference, which was a great way to have a few new things to discuss about how we can grow in our marriage. It's so grown-up of us, no? But to balance that out, I totally forgot about the bowling party we were supposed to go to Sunday after church. And we really wanted to go! But instead we had a gang of guys over for lunch, and then Robyn came over to play the Farming game with me. It was a good day!

I just read Peony in Love by Lisa See last night, and definitely enjoyed it. It was reccomended to me by Joss, and I must agree that it was worth reading! The novel is set in China during the dynastic period where the mongols took over. It's about a young girl who falls in love on sight, talks to her special someone in a shady pagoda a few times, then pines her way to death to avoid a matchmaking marriage. Turns out she was supposed to marry the guy she was mooning over. Oops. The second and third 'acts' of the novel are her journey through the Chinese afterlife, where she wanders the world until she discovers her purpose: to help lover-boy have a happy life and marriage. Crazy, no? Next novel up: the hunger games, by Suzanne Collins.

As far as the baby goes, I continue to get fatter, which is pretty normal. We're waiting to decorate the baby room until after it's born, but will start moving some furniture in in a few weeks so that I can start sewing the crib bedding and other such homey tasks. I'm also starting to have to wiggle my way in and out of chairs and such, which is pretty amusing.

I'm heading off to swim some laps with Joss and Jill, and maybe Britt. Have a splendid rest of your day!
