Things are finally slowing down around here, and I'm glad to have a much-needed rest. December has been busy with Christmas-ey events, both of us working full time, youth group, and working on a website in my 'spare' time - on top of all the other things that December brings. Oh, and don't forget the Christmas shopping!
The presents have been laid under the tree with care, received, mailed, wrapped. We're taking most of them with us to Lethbridge for our holiday celebrations, but will open a few from J's family before we go. I'm really looking forward to seeing the family again. It's been much too long, though a phone call every so often at least keeps us in touch.
We had our first ultrasound a few weeks ago (I was 20 weeks pregnant and counting). I found it to be a fairly painless procedure, aside from the pushing on a full bladder with a blunt object for a good half hour. It was quite restful to relax for awhile while the technician worked. After she finished her thing, J came in and we got a preview of our new baby. It was very cool to be able to see it while it was still in my tummy, and I'm glad to report it seems just fine from what I saw: 2 arms, 2 legs, a body and a head. Everything seemed to be there. And no, we didn't ask if it was a boy or girl. Why ruin such a lovely surprise?
I've been working full-time for the past several months at the Butcher Shop here in town, making soups and sandwiches and all manner of goodies in their front/deli section. It's getting a bit tiring for me now, and I'm considering cutting back on my hours somewhat for the next few months. There's no point in wearing myself out before the baby arrives!
A week and a bit ago our youth group threw a masked carnival. It was well-decorated and well-received. We would have hoped for a better turnout, but the carnival was unfortunately the same day as the high school dance. There were maybe 30 youth there, plus volunteers. Hopefully we'll get more next year. I was in charge of the Wii - we had some raving bunny game going, which was only 1 token to play. What a deal!

the instrument chest
We went down to Edmonton last weekend for a quick surprise 30th birthday trip to see Erika (and Chuck, of course). We drove down Saturday and back Sunday, so we didn't have tons of time, but we're glad we went all the same.
We met up with Chuck, Erika, Charity, and Maria for an evening of jazz at the Yardbird suite. Maria made this wonderful ganache cake-thing, we brought flowers, and it turned out to be a fun event. The band was a bit too hardcore on making the music complex & fast for my taste. I'd forgotten that not all jazz is smooth and slow. The next live jazz that I'd like to see would hopefully be just a vocals/piano/upright bass kind of thing. We'll see how that goes!
This Friday is the Christmas party for Jeremie's work, so we're heading off for a dinner theatre evening. I don't know that we'll stay for the whole thing, since the evening is billed as an adult play and we're not into that kind of thing. But it will be good to meet/re-meet a few of his co-workers and their wives. I'm looking forward more to next weekend, where their work is paying for a ladies' spa day - lunch, facial, and manicure. It sounds fabulous. Don't you agree?

Pregnant.. again
We're pregnant again. Hooray!
We're currently 18 weeks along, due about April 27th (give or take the usual amount of days or weeks for newborn inconsistencies). We haven't come up with names or anything, though we're considering a few. We do like Judah for a boy, or Avelene for a girl. But it's all up in the air at this point!
I'm not really that fat yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I do, however, need to find some new jeans. I'm beginning to understand why everyone here goes to Edmonton when they want to shop - there's just not much that interests me! But hey, it's probably better on the pocket book this way.
We'll be painting / decorating the baby room (I'll miss having my own office, but we'll figure something out) in January. We're going the el-cheapo secondhand route, and have already bought the crib, change table, and dresser. I'm hoping to have some fun making the crib bedding and painting the room up. Too many possibilities, it's so hard to decide!

some famous skatepark
It doesn't feel like I've been up to much lately, though my calendar tends to say differently. Let's take a look at the past few weeks:
1. I finished my Christmas shopping and wrapped the presents, at least for my side of the family. I can't take all the credit though, since I've been scouting around since the summer for great deals. We're also doing a gift exchange with J's family, so I'll have one more gift to get there.
2. Mom gave us enough airmiles to fly down for Christmas! We're both quite excited about this.
3. I had a Norwex party. I hardly even like product parties, and yet I hosted one. The presentation was a repeat, so I got a bit bored, but we did have fun afterwards :)
4. I served at the Christmas Ladies' tea, as a waitress/server. It was fun to do for a night, but I'm sure glad that's not my regular job! I'm going to the tea as a guest tomorrow night, so hopefully I'll have some friends at my table so we can eat and be merry.
5. Jeremie took off for a Vancouver skate trip. Too cool. The pic above is one of my more favorite photos from his trip.
6. I found a kindred dressup-clothes spirit in Amy. It's fabulous!
